A Little About Me

Leah Powell, MSW, LCSW, PMH-C

Founder | Psychotherapist | (she/her)

I’m so glad you’re here. Whether you’re feeling stuck in your relationship, navigating personal challenges, coping with infertility, or longing to reconnect emotionally with your partner, or even with yourself, therapy can be a powerful step forward. Life and relationships can be complex, and choosing to invest in therapy, whether individually or as a couple, is a courageous and meaningful step toward healing, growth, and deeper connection. I’m here to support you every step of the way.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#C017980) and certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C #PSI25138983). I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and my graduate degree in Social Work from North Carolina State University.

My clinical training and experience focus on relationship concerns, attachment and attachment wounding, sex therapy, infertility and family building, and perinatal mental health. My work is informed by attachment theory and integrates evidence-based approaches, including Mindfulness Practices, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). For couples therapy, I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and I incorporate elements of the Gottman Method. I am proudly LGBTQIA+ affirming, support all relationship structures, and work with adults ages 18 and older.

I take an insight-oriented and depth-focused approach to psychotherapy, helping clients explore underlying patterns, beliefs, and emotional experiences. I view therapy as an art and a collaboration between client and therapist, using a person-centered, holistic lens. I believe mental health encompasses much more than emotional well-being; our physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental health all intersect. I encourage clients to bring any topic related to these areas into therapy for discussion and exploration.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, cooking, going for walks in the sun, listening to music, and prioritizing rest and rejuvenation. I also love spending time at home with my cat, Jasper, and my dog, Winnie, who occasionally make appearances during telehealth sessions.

If my services feel like a good fit, I invite you to get in touch through the Contact page. I look forward to connecting with you.
